This piece, "Allure", depicts forest spirts from Nordic folklore, the huldrefolk (loosely translating to hidden folk), specifically a huldra. The female huldra is typically described as beautiful and alluring but hiding a distinctive feature such as a cow or fox tail and/or having a back which is like a hollowed out tree. Depending on specific interpretations and local stories, huldra are known to be both benevolent and malevolent entities. Some treating farmers, herders, and charcoal burners with kindness if they are in turn treated with respect, others luring humans (especially men) into the forest to trap them. These trapped humans are either kept as lovers, cursed and driven to insanity, or found later “lost” to the wild.
